  A: Before starting Starter motor replacement for 1.4l ldt or 1.6 lxv models disconnect the negative Battery Cable. Start by lifting the vehicle and unscrewing the solenoid nut that disconnects the Starter harness then unscrew the solenoid nut that disconnects the battery positive connector. Take out the Starter by first unbolting the engine block's ground bolt followed by disassembling the Starter mounting bolts. First put the Starter in position then install the Starter mounting bolts while applying 25 nm (18.4 lb ft) of torque. Reinstall the Starter solenoid nut only after connecting the battery positive connector and Starter harness on the solenoid. Ensure proper torque on all hardware by tightening the engine ground bolt to 38 nm (28.0 lb ft) and the solenoid harness connector and battery positive connector nuts to 10.5 nm (7.7 lb ft). As a final step lower the vehicle and reconnect the battery negative cable.
