Begin by turning off the SIR system when replacing the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor. Access the side impact sensor inside the door by pulling back the water deflector's rear half and removing the front door trim panel first. Disconnect the impact sensor electrical connector from the side impact sensor and remove the screws that secure the side impact sensor to the door. Wipe the door's mounting area to clean it completely from all contaminants including oils and dirt before reinstalling the side impact sensor. The installer must place the side impact sensor horizontally along the door's edge before connecting its electrical connector to the side impact sensor . Secure the left-hand-threaded screws to 8 Nm (71 lb in) torque value. Seating the water deflector to full depth in the door while reinstalling the door trim panel. Finally, enable the SIR system.
