How to replace the exhaust muffler on 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

To replace the exhaust Muffler, a frame brace, spare tire, rear axle Tie Rod, and rear axle brace will have to be removed first. Subsequently, remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolts and set them aside as well as remove the right rear coil spring if fitted. For the engine 4.2 l remove the Catalytic Converter to Muffler nuts , and when you have 5.3 l or 6.0 l remove Muffler to Catalytic Converter nuts. With help, pull off the exhaust insulators (1, 3, and 4) from the Muffler hangers and remove the Muffler assembly from the auto. For installation, install the Muffler assembly back on the vehicle with assistance and attach the exhaust insulators (1,3 and 4) to the Muffler hangers. For a car with a 5.3l or 6.0l engine and install the Muffler with Catalytic Converter nuts and tighten to 45 nm (33 lb ft). For a 4.2l engine, install the Catalytic Converter to Muffler nuts and tighten to the same specification. Replace the right rear coil spring if necessary, align with the shock absorbers and tighten the mounting bolts at the lower end. Finally, reinstall the following: rear axle brace, rear axle Tie Rod, spare tire, and frame brace.
