2010 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the camshaft on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: A Camshaft replacement procedure requires the initial step to be the extraction of Camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets followed by Timing Belt Tensioner removal and timing belt rear cover elimination. Start by removing the Camshaft position solenoid valve housing while following with Camshaft cap bolt removal in the sequence of (1, 4, 2, 3) to detach the caps. The process requires you to separate the intake and exhaust camshafts together with all their ring seals. Before installing apply oil to both cam surfaces and bearing of the Camshaft while keeping the sealing area outside the marked sections free from any sealant. Install the camshafts (1, 2) on the cylinder head with a specific requirement that the grooves next to the sealing surfaces must be free of any sealant material. Apply the thin coat of surface sealant loctite 574 evenly to the marked sealing surfaces on the 1st Camshaft Bearing cap before installing the Camshaft Bearing caps starting from position 2 followed by position 3 then position 1 and finally position 4. Install the Camshaft position solenoid valve housing after torquing the Camshaft Bearing cap bolts to 8 nm (70.8 lb in). The new Camshaft oil seal rings need km-422 for installation followed by the timing belt rear cover's reinstallation before tightening the timing belt rear cover bolts to 6 nm (53.1 lb in). The Timing Belt Tensioner should be installed first before adding the Camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets.
