Q: How to replace the rod bearing in an engine assembly on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To remove the Piston, connecting rod, and bearing, you should first remove the engine assembly and install it on the stand. You will need to pull out the Ignition Coil, pcv clips, and pcv hose from the Cylinder Head cover. Then remove the Cylinder Head cover with bolts and head cover . Then unbolt the Power Steering Pump and bracket, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets, camshaft rear cover, exhaust manifold, throttle body, intake manifold, engine coolants distributor, cylinder head bolts, and Cylinder Head assembly with the Cylinder Head gasket. Take out Engine Oil Cooler, a/c compressor, alternator, starter, oil pan, oil pump assembly, and flexible plate or Flywheel. Check or confirm the sequence of Piston assembly, and also check the connecting Rod Bearing sequence not to confuse him. Replace the connecting rod cap and bolts, remove the Piston assembly and remove the Piston pin and Piston Ring from the Piston using the expansion tool. For installation, you need to take care to install the Piston pin to the Piston before installing the Piston Ring with the help of an expansion tool but ensure the correct assembly sequence. Use the Piston installer (1.6L only - EN-49153) to install the Piston assembly, then install the connecting rod cap with the bearings on and tighten bolts to 35 + 45(political inclination) + 15(political inclination) nm, (25.8 + 45(political inclination) + 15(political inclination) lb ft). Fitting of flexible plate or Flywheel, oil pump set, engine oil cooler, a/c compressor, alternator, starter, and Oil Pan should be reconducted without using the same Cylinder Head gasket. Mount the Cylinder Head assembly using a new gasket and bolt the Cylinder Head bolts in a crisscross pattern to 25+90° +90° +90° +45° nm (18.4+90° +90° +90° +45° lb ft). Replace the engine coolant distributor, intake manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifold, camshaft rear cover , camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets, timing belt system, accessory belt, power steering pump and bracket, cylinder head cover , cylinder head cover bolts, pcv hose, pcv clips and lastly the Ignition Coil.
