Q: How to replace the rod bearing with Variable Camshaft Phasing on 2009 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Make sure to dismantle the engine assembly and place it on a stand to replace the Piston, connecting rod, and the bearing with variable camshaft phasing. Dismount Ignition Coil, pcv clips, and pcv hose from the Cylinder Head cover, and then the bolts on the Cylinder Head cover and the cover its self. Then disconnect the Power Steering Pump and bracket, timing belt and tensioner, camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets, camshaft rear cover, exhaust manifold, throttle body, intake manifold, engine coolant distributor , cylinder head bolt s, and the Cylinder Head assembly with the gasket. This will involve eliminating the Engine Oil Cooler, a/c compressor, alternator, the Starter, oil pan, and Oil Pump assembly as well as flexible plate or Flywheel. Check the Piston assembly and connecting rod bearingckill sequence to avoid any confusion ,constructively remove the connecting rod cape and bolt then Piston assembly, piston pin, then Piston Ring using the expansion tool. Mounting, care: mount back on Piston pin and Piston Ring and then on Piston then mount the Piston assembler with Piston installer (1.6L only - EN-49153) mount the connecting rod cap and fasten it with bearings, applying a torque of 35+45° +15° nm (25.8+45° +15° lb ft) to the bolts. Put back the flexible plate or Flywheel, oil pump assembly, engine oil cooler, a/c compressor, alternator, starter, and Oil Pan. Apply a new Cylinder Head gasket on the Cylinder Head assembly and tighten the Cylinder Head bolts to 25+ 90° +90° +90° +45° nm (18.4+ 90° +90° +90° +45° lb ft). Finally, you will install the engine coolant distributor , intake manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifold, camshaft rear cover , camshaft intake and exhaust sprockets, timing belt system, accessory belt, power steering pump and bracket , cylinder head cover , cylinder head cover bolts, pcv hose, and pcv clips, and you will again re-install the Ignition Coil.
