2010 Chevrolet Aveo Steering Knuckle Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The first step to replace a Steering Knuckle involves vehicle liftup followed by suspension support before separating front wheels. The replacement of the Steering Knuckle starts with the removal of the axle shaft caulking nut then discarding it followed by the lower Ball Joint nut. The km-507-c - Ball Joint remover severs the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle followed by detaching the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle through use of the km-507-c - remover. Secure the brake caliper with mechanic wire to protect the hydraulic brake hose then take out brake caliper pad assemblies together while safeguarding the brake hose from tension. Take off the brake rotor together with the abs vehicle speed sensor when it is available. After dissembling the strut nuts and bolts make sure to avoid wheel drive shaft deformation when supporting it before removing the knuckle assembly. Initial steps include unmounting the Wheel Hub along with its attached bearing and seal from the knuckle and then disassembling the splash shield together with its screws. The installation process begins by fastening the splash shield to the knuckle at 4 nm (35 lb in) torque then you should install the Wheel Hub followed by the bearing and the seal. Fits the knuckle assembly to the front strut with 100 nm (74 lb ft) nut and bolt torque before attaching the abs wheel speed sensor followed by the brake rotor. Connect the brake caliper followed by the lower Ball Joint while tightening its nut to 55 nm (41 lb ft). The outer Tie Rod End should receive a tightening force of 45 nm (33 lb ft) before attaching the loose axle shaft caulking nut that needs a torque value of 300 nm (221 lb ft) followed by staking. After reinstalling the front wheels let the vehicle down to the ground and conduct inspections while measuring the wheel alignment and making front toe adjustments if needed.
