Chevrolet Aveo Steering Knuckle Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on Chevrolet Aveo?
A: When replacing the Steering Knuckle start by lifting the vehicle and keeping it supported before removing the front wheels. Caulking nut around the axle shaft comes off first and you must discard it. The operation then moves to loosen the lower Ball Joint nut. The km-507-c (KM-507-C) enables separation of the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle before removing the outer tie rod nut with another application of the km-507-c (KM-507-C) for outer Tie Rod End separation from the Steering Knuckle. Use heavy mechanic wire to support the brake caliper to protect the hydraulic flexible brake hose before you detach the caliper assembly with pads while maintaining no strain on the brake hose. Separate the brake rotor from the vehicle with the abs wheel speed sensor if present. Start by removing the front strut nuts and bolts after supporting the wheel drive shaft before you take away the knuckle assembly. Start by extracting the Wheel Hub, bearing and seal from the knuckle followed by removing the splash shield together with its screws. Permanent attachment of the splash shield to the knuckle occurs by screwing the hardware pieces until they measure 4 n.m (35 lb in). The knuckle assembly receives the front strut connection through its nut and bolt installation while maintaining a torque of 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Apply the abs wheel speed sensor followed by the brake rotor and brake caliper installation. Place the Steering Knuckle lower Ball Joint and tighten the lower Ball Joint nut to 55 n.m (41 lb ft). Screw the outer Tie Rod End into the Steering Knuckle before securing it with an outer tie rod nut that reaches a torque of 45 n.m (33 lb ft). First install the new axle shaft caulking nut loosely before torquing it to 300 n.m (221 lb ft) and finally staking it into place. After wheel reinstallation lower the vehicle before a wheel alignment inspection detects and adjusts necessary front toe measurements.
