The v6 engine requires compressor air conditioning protection while the v8 engine needs generator cover installation in order to stop power steering fluid from reaching those components. The vehicle must rest on drain pans while the power steering gear inlet and outlet hoses remain connected with closure caps on all sections to prevent fluid contamination. The power steering fluid reservoir inlet port must receive a cap while the technician plugs the outlet hose after disconnecting it from the power steering fluid cooler outlet. Support the vehicle while maintaining control to avoid damaging the port by using light force when you remove the power steering oil cooler hoses. The power steering fluid cooler outlet hose should be detached from its outlet port on the air conditioning condenser before capping the port opening. Pull out the bolt until the power steering cooler bracket detaches from the front frame structure while removing the power steering outlet tube. The installation process starts by plugging the cooler end of the new outlet hose and setting up this hose on the front frame before inserting the bracket with its bolt secured at 9 nm torque (80 lb in).
