2010 Chevrolet Corvette Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear wheel bearing and hub on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Before starting the work you need to put the vehicle in a raised position. Separate the tire and wheel from the car by disconnecting the wheel speed sensor connector along with the esc rear position sensor link. First disconnect the brake caliper and rotor then take out the shock absorber esc harness and separate the suspension knuckle from the Tie Rod End. Take off the Spindle Nut retainer, spindle nut, and washer before splitting the upper Control Arm away from the suspension knuckle and removing the lower Control Arm ball joint stud from the suspension knuckle. During suspension knuckle removal you should locate the short black coated lower fastener that holds the rear Wheel Bearing to the knuckle part for accurate clearance setup. Pull out all Wheel Hub mounting bolts from suspension knuckle and slide out the hub and bearing unit. Install only the correct part number Wheel Hub/wheel speed sensor because front and rear sensors require separate units. Position the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly on suspension knuckle bolts and tighten bolts to 130 nm (96 lb ft). Position the upper Control Arm first and join the suspension knuckle to the lower Control Arm ball stud. Secure the Spindle Nut along with washer and retainer before threading the outer Tie Rod End stud onto the suspension knuckle. Reposition the brake rotor and caliper as the wheel speed sensor fits and shock absorber powerlink connects to the sensor. Finish the process by placing the tire and wheel parts before letting the vehicle back to the ground.
