Buick Century Idle Control Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Idle Control Valve on Buick Century?
A: Begin by turning off the ignition before removing the evap purge valve according to the instructions from this article. Unplug the electrical connector that serves the Idle Control Valve before you remove the retaining screws and then detach the Idle Control Valve and o-ring. The installation requires checking the cone length before placing the new valve to ensure it does not exceed 28 mm (1-1/8 in) and use manual compression if needed. Place the new Idle Control Valve in the Intake Manifold by fastening it with two screws that should be tightened to 3.0 n.m (27 lb in). The Idle Control Valve electrical connector needs reattachment while the technician installs back the evap purge valve. You should turn the ignition to on for ten seconds followed by turning it off for five seconds to reset the Idle Control Valve before starting the engine while it reaches operational temperature.
