  Q: How to replace the radiator fan on Buick Park Avenue?

  A: Replacing an electric Radiator fan begins with draining the cooling system followed by removal of front headlamps along with hood latch support and upper Radiator seal and upper Radiator brackets. The procedure starts with removing both the inlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator and the wiring harness electrical connector from the motor and fan bracket. The installation of a new electric Radiator fan requires replacing the fan assembly mounting bolts and disconnection of both the fan bracket bolts along with the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolts from the lower tie bar and Fan Shroud. Raise the Radiator assembly from the lower mounts by lifting it forward towards the vehicle front at the left side. Switch off the Radiator fans by freeing them from their bottom mounting tabs and raise the Radiator fan assembly on the left side. To install the assembly begin by inserting it into lower Radiator holding tabs before securing fan electric Radiator fan mounting bolts at 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). The Radiator and fan assembly should go onto the lower mounts while the coolant overflow hose needs to fit into the Fan Shroud clips followed by proper alignment of the transaxle oil cooler pipes with the Fan Shroud routing features. Attach the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket fasteners to the Fan Shroud while securing them to the lower tie bar using fasteners of 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) and 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). After connecting the electrical connectors of the wiring harness to fan motors, attach the inlet Radiator Hose to the Radiator before locking the upper Radiator brackets with 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. The last steps include installation of the upper Radiator seal combined with the hood latch support and front headlamps and coolant system filling.
