Buick Terraza Alternator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the alternator on Buick Terraza?
A: Service and repair procedures for the Alternator start with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the washer solvent container. You must first disconnect the windshield wiper transmission link in front of the Wiper Motor before moving it out of operating range. Move the engine forward before you detach the Drive Belt. First disconnect the engine harness to generator output wire nut after removing the engine harness output wire from the generator and finally unplug the engine harness electrical connector . Remove the securing nut from the power steering lines that attach to the generator back stud while positioning the steering lines securely to the side. First remove the wire harness retainers on both shock towers before detaching the idler pulley bolt and pulley which are located on the engine's right front side. Begin by detaching the generator's lower bolt and stud and then its upper bolt, and finally remove the generator from its position. To install the generator first position it in the required spot then tighten the generator lower bolt and stud to a tight fit followed by generator upper bolt tightening to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The idler pulley and bolt installation on the right front engine side should be followed by harness wire connection to shock tower retainers while positioning power steering lines and their retainer to the generator bracket stud. Install the power steering lines' retaining nut on the generator back. Then, connect the generator to the engine harness electrical connector and the ground. Finally, tighten the ground nut with a torque wrench set to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Replace the Drive Belt, reposition the engine to its original placement and bolt the engine's mount strut into position. Finish the installation by connecting the windshield wiper transmission and washer solvent reservoir while reattaching the negative Battery Cable.
