Cadillac Escalade EXT A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on Cadillac Escalade EXT?
A: Before replacing a condenser you should recover the refrigerant initially. Begin by removing the upper tie bar and disconnecting the compressor discharge hose assembly from the condenser using its bolt. Seamlessly detach the evaporator tube from the condenser by removing its tube nut. The process allows the removal of the condenser from the vehicle when you take away the insulator retainer bolts and upper insulator retainers. Before putting in the new condenser you must apply refrigerant oil to it. Hook the condenser into its proper place before fastening the insulator retainer bolts and upper insulator retainers to 2.4 N.m (21 lb in) torque. Secure the evaporator tube to the condenser through the application of new sealing washers before torquing the evaporator tube nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Use new sealing washers to connect the compressor discharge hose to the condenser before installing and tightening the hose nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Lower bolts installing into the hood latch support bracket require 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque while tie bar to radiator brace bolts need to be tightened to the same torque value and can only be reached from the rear of the upper radiator support. As the final step, follow system evacuation with recharging the system before conducting a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) examination of component fittings.
