Regular replacement of the filter ensures your climate control system avoids water damage and small particle damage. The process to reach the passenger compartment air filter begins with pulling the rubber hood seal away from the leaf screen vent cover edge and continuing with the removal of three fasteners that secure the filter access cover before sliding off the cover. To remove the plastic water deflector start by releasing its retention tab through outboard edge lifting before using inboard edge lifting to activate the second retention tab and sliding the deflector inside the vehicle for elimination. Pull the filter to view the top edge and slide it out of the compartment by lifting it from the front while moving upward. Replace the new air filter in position while verifying the arrow on the filter must point towards the passenger section. To complete the installation replace the water deflector, filter cover and hood seal in the order opposite to removal.
