To replace the Hood Cable; commence by removing the grille; and disconnect the hood release cable (from the
Hood Latch) by squeezing the hood release cable retainer. Then, remove the Hood Cable from the retainer at the radiator support panel, then you have to remove the left sound insulator panel and the left front carpet retainer. Move the carpet down to reach the Hood Latch cable grommet and then remove the Hood Cable screw from the handle and pull the handle from the front hinge pillar. Press the tabs to disconnect the Hood Cable from the handle while leaving the end of the wire or string in the passenger compartment. Do not tie the wire or string to the end of the hood release cable to help yourself to install the new end of the hood release cable, and pull the grommet out of the engine compartment into the passenger compartment and clean the old sealant out of the instrument panel hole. Take out the Hood Cable from instrument panel then remove the wire or string from hood release cable. Install the new Hood Cable by tying the wire or string around it and passing it through the opening of the instrument panel. Let the sealer to dry and then pull the grommet from engine compartment side if it seats in the instrument panel hole and remove the hood release cable. Mount the Hood Cable to the retainer at the radiator support panel, hook it on the Hood Latch, and the handle. Connect the Hood Cable handle to the hinge pillar and make sure that it is tightened with the Hood Cable handle screw to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Lastly, fold back the carpet, reinstall the left sound insulator panel, the left front carpets retainer, and the grille.
