The procedure to replace the left side Exhaust Manifold starts by removing two components: Exhaust Manifold heat shield followed by oil level indicator and Catalytic Converter. Disassemble the Exhaust Manifold bolts without gasket reuse before proceeding to extract the Exhaust Manifold component along with the gasket which needs discarding. The heated Oxygen Sensor should be detached from the Exhaust Manifold. The threads of reused sensors require coating with gm p/n 12377953 anti-seize compound or equivalent product. Fasten the ho2s onto the Exhaust Manifold by tightening it to 42 nm (31 lb ft). You should install one Exhaust Manifold bolt to its respective slot on the Exhaust Manifold before setting the new Exhaust Manifold Gasket to the manifold and bolting it into place. Install the Exhaust Manifold with gasket on the Cylinder Head while also connecting the Catalytic Converter before torquing all Exhaust Manifold bolts to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Begin with Catalytic Converter installation followed by the oil level indicator then install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield.
