What should be considered when cleaning the throttle body and throttle valve plate in high mileage on GMC Acadia?

Long-term use and driving can lead to EGR gas forming deposits behind the throttle valve plate yet these deposits generally produce no problems except minor effects on pedal feel attributes and throttle position. The procedure should only be carried out on vehicles exceeding an 80 450 km (50 000 mi) mileage mark. Start cleaning operations by disconnecting the air cleaner outlet duct while turning OFF the ignition to prevent personal injuries caused by accidental throttle blade motion. Put no tools inside the throttle body bore because it will result in damage to the throttle valve plate. To assess the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate for debris you should open the throttle valve to check all accessible surfaces. Using any solvent containing Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) will damage fuel system components. Use GM top engine cleaner (code 1052626 or 993026) or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner (X66-P) along with a clean shop towel to thoroughly clean the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate. Put the air cleaner outlet duct back in place as the last step.
