The first step to replace a tailgate handle on a utility vehicle requires removal of handle grip screws and liftgate trim panel. First disconnect the liftgate handle rod retainer before removing bolts between the liftgate and outside handle and finally remove the outside handle. Follow these instructions for installation by placing the liftgate outside handle onto the liftgate followed by bolt installation before tightening them to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Before installing the liftgate handle rod choose the tailgate handle and activate the retainer before reinstalling the liftgate trim panel.
