- Q: How to service and repair the Shift Interlock Solenoid on GMC Savana 2500?A: Before servicing or repairing the Shift Interlock Solenoid operators need to disable the SIR system. First put the shift lever clevis into neutral position then take off the knee bolster and detach the electrical connector. A small screwdriver should be used to detach the A/T shift lock control actuator from the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly before removing the actuator. The installation process requires tight attachment of the A/T shift lock control actuator to the steering column jacket assembly while connecting it with the cable shift cam assembly followed by reconnecting electrical connections. To adjust the actuator keep the shift lever clevis in neutral position by first pulling out the tab on the adjuster block side then pressing the adjuster block which compresses the internal adjuster spring and slides the adjuster block far away from the actuator before locking with the tab by pressing in. An inspection should confirm the actuator successfully secures the shift lever clevis in park and enables shift-out-of-park with brake engagement. Readjust the actuator before replacing the knee bolster while enabling the SIR system.
