GMC Yukon Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How Should Front Coil Springs and Shock Absorber Be Serviced Using the CH-48845 (Spring Compressor) on GMC Yukon?
A: The ch-48845 (Spring Compressor) represents the sole acceptable tool for suspension component servicing to prevent harm because regular tools lack sufficient strength to deal with these springs. First position the front shock absorber assembly inside the ch-48845 while ensuring an adjustment of the upper retaining bracket protects front suspension mounts on vehicles with electronic suspension control. Install the shock absorber into the upper retaining bracket of ch-48845 before using the ch-48845 to compress the front spring. You need an appropriate sized wrench to hold the shock absorber shaft before you remove its nut which must get discarded for a new one. Proceed with removing the front lower shock absorber followed by the front spring lower insulator and subsequent removal of the front suspension strut mount front spring upper seat front suspension strut bumper front spring upper insulator along with the front suspension spring from the spring compressor. You need to install the front suspension strut mount , front spring upper seat , front suspension strut bumper , front spring upper insulator , and front suspension spring into the spring compressor with an inboard strut mounting stud position close to the outboard stud that should align outward. Set the spring seat stop and outboard stud along with the lower strut mount center at a point across from the spring seat notch situated right of the outboard stud. Place the shock absorber into the upper retaining bracket of the ch-48845 then repeat compression of the front spring. Secure the shock absorber shaft using a proper wrench before placing the new shock absorber nut and applying torque at 80 nm (59 lb ft) when electronics are present or 60 nm (44 lb ft) for non-elec. Sistem vehicles. There must be a 20 nm (15 lb ft) torque using the electrical connector when installing the electronic suspension. The shock absorber assembly should be taken from the spring compressor before mounting it inside the vehicle.
