A vehicle owner needs to drain power steering fluid from the
Power Steering Pump before removing the Power Steering Reservoir. First detach the pump mounting studs before the complete removal of the connector and fitting assembly together with the o-ring seal. In case of necessity the pump housing assembly requires removal of both the control valve assembly and flow control spring. The Power Steering Reservoir assembly should be separated from the pump housing assembly before removing the o-ring seals , , and . The cleaning process will continue with the magnet. Inspect the welch plug found in the Power Steering Pump housing without unmounting it. The Power Steering Pump housing needs replacement if there is any deformation or dislodgement of the plug. The assembly procedure requires new o-ring seals that need power steering fluid lubrication before installation into the pump housing assembly with the addition of the flow control spring. The control valve assembly fits onto the flow control spring before the installation of o-ring seals , and to the pump housing assembly. Assemble the magnet to the pump housing assembly before connecting the reservoir assembly to this housing followed by sealing the o-ring. Attach the connector and fitting assembly to the pump housing and drive pump mounting studs into the pump housing while tightening until reaching 58 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the assembly of connector and fitting until it reaches 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.).
