The first step involves transmission removal before using the crank hub torx socket (J 42098) to counterhold the Crankshaft to remove and discard the Flywheel bolts. After removing the engine Flywheel with its retainer from the Crankshaft you should clean the rear Crankshaft flange before performing an inspection of the engine Flywheel. To install the components you should place the engine Flywheel and retainer onto the Crankshaft while applying thread retaining compound to new Flywheel bolts that use gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488). The crank hub torx socket (J 42098) can be used to secure the Crankshaft for installation of new Flywheel bolts which must be tightened to 65 nm (48 ft. Lbs.). Use the torque/angle meter (J 36660-A) to carry out bolt rotations on the Flywheel as follows: begin with a 30-degree angle rotation followed by another 15-degree rotation for installation of the transmission.

Starting the engine Flywheel replacement process demands removing the transmission from the system first. The crank hub torx® socket (J42098) enables users to counterhold the Crankshaft while they remove the Flywheel bolts before discarding all bolts. The torque/angle meter (J36660-A) must be used when rotating Flywheel bolts by starting at 30 degrees then proceeding to another 15-degree twist for the last step. Finally, reinstall the transmission.
