    Q:
How to replace the Shift Cable in the column on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before starting to replace the shift cable in the column, make sure to set the parking brake and chock the wheels. Take the transaxle shift cable terminal apart from the transaxle manual shift lever pin, and then press the locking tabs to push the cable free from the bracket. Take away the left instrument panel closeout/insulator panel, and then take the retaining clip off the shift cable. After that, pull the shift cable out from the column control lever and the steering column bracket, and feed the cable through the hole in the cowl. When installing, put the shift cable through the engine bay and route it up to the cowl, then connect it to the steering column bracket. Put the retaining clip back onto the shift cable and hook it onto the column control lever. Install the left I/P closeout/insulator panel, then put the shift cable back in the bracket and attach its terminal to the transaxle manual shift lever pin. Adjust the transmission cable so it works properly in the end.
