    Q:
How to Replace a Shift Cable in a Range Selector Lever on Cadillac DTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step in replacing the Shift Cable requires setting the park brake and chocking of wheels. The retainer should be fully removed from the transaxle shift cable mechanism before disconnecting the transaxle shift cable terminal from the shift lever pin on the manual pin. The transaxle shift cable becomes detached from its bracket when users push the locking tabs inside. After removing the left closeout/insulator panel users should disconnect the transaxle shift cable terminal that is attached to the shift lever pin. Keep the locking tabs of the transaxle shift cable mechanism pushed inside so that you can remove the cable from its bracket. Remove the shift cable after unplugging the grommet at the cowl panel of the vehicle. The installation requires you to put the shift cable through the cowl panel before placing the grommet in position. Complete insertion of the transaxle shift cable into the bracket will result in automatic bracket snapping followed by terminal connection to the shift lever pin. Reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel after installing the retainer to the transaxle shift cable mechanism. Fuel up the transaxle shift cable terminal with the transaxle manual shift lever pin while driving it into the bracket. The procedure ends with installing the retainer on the transaxle shift cable mechanism and adjusting the automatic transmission shift cable.
