    Q:
How to remove and install the drive belt on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to remove the Drive Belt involves raising and supporting the vehicle. Begin the Drive Belt replacement task by removing the 4 splash shield bolts then taking out the splash shield. First disconnect the a/c compressor hose strap bolt and the air injection crossover pipe bracket nut from the generator mounting bolt while maintaining a secure hold on the generator bolt from its back side. Begin by taking off the air injection crossover pipe bushing nut from the left side of the engine bracket before removing the pipe by detaching the rubber hose connection clamps. Transfer the air injection crossover pipe to an accessible position to reach the Drive Belt. You should use a 15 mm wrench to turn the center bolt on the tensioner pulley clockwise for Drive Belt tension release before sliding off the Drive Belt from the Water Pump Pulley. Users should reference the Drive Belt routing diagram to install the serpentine Drive Belt while previously cleaning both Drive Belt surfaces and accessory drive pulleys. First clock-wise turn the Drive Belt tensioner then direct the Drive Belt across the top of the Water Pump Pulley for installation. Check the Drive Belt seating in all accessory drive pulleys after you let go of the tensioner. Reconnect the air injection crossover pipe by placing it into rubber hose connections while using clamps at all times. The generator bolt should receive the air injection crossover pipe bushing nut that needs to be tightened to 12 nm (108 inch lbs.). While doing this application use the generator bolt as a counterhold to achieve 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) torque on the air injection crossover pipe support bracket nut. Secure the a/c compressor hose strap bolt through tightness of 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). To complete the process reinstall the splash shield and secure its 4 bolts by tightening them until they become seated without stripping. Then lower the vehicle down.
