Caliper Mount

Start by taking off the brake caliper from the Brake Caliper Bracket using heavy mechanic wire so as to prevent damage to the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Then, unscrew brake pads from the Brake Caliper Bracket, as well as Brake Pad retainers , brake caliper guide pins, and brake caliper boot. Following that, remove the Brake Caliper Bracket mounting bolts and the Brake Caliper Bracket from the knuckle, be sure to check the bracket for cracks or damage, replacing as needed. Put on the 2 Brake Caliper Bracket bolts, and tighten them to 130 n.m (96 lb ft). Make sure caliper guide pin boots are seated in their respective retaining seats before installing caliper guide pins and ensuring proper seating. Move on to install the Brake Pad retainers and brake pads to the Brake Caliper Bracket , and finally attach brake caliper to the front Brake Caliper Bracket.

Moving on to substitute the front Brake Caliper Bracket requires obtaining a firm brake pedal position so you can prevent injury. You must first remove the brake caliper from its bracket but support it with heavy mechanic's wire instead of damaging the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Start the Brake Caliper Bracket replacement by taking out brake pads alongside Brake Pad retainers from the Brake Caliper Bracket while moving forward with removing brake caliper guide pins along with brake caliper pin boots from the brake caliper mounting bracket . After uninstalling the Brake Caliper Bracket mounting bolts the mechanic should remove the Brake Caliper Bracket from the knuckle while checking it for damage and replacing it if needed. Before placement, clean the threads on the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts that mate with the knuckle holes while applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488) to 2/3 of the lower caliper bracket bolt length until it attains a full cure in about 10 minutes. The installation requires 2 Brake Caliper Bracket bolts which must get tightened to 130 n.m (96 lb ft). Install caliper guide pins through the caliper mounting bracket while making sure their guide pin boots lock into the retaining seats. Pull the caliper guide pin outward to verify complete seating before installing Brake Pad retainers and brake pads onto the Brake Caliper Bracket before mounting the brake caliper to the front Brake Caliper Bracket .

Start the procedure to replace the front Brake Caliper Bracket only after obtaining a firm brake pedal to protect yourself from possible injury. Starting with brake caliper removal from the Brake Caliper Bracket you should support the caliper with heavy mechanic's wire to protect the hydraulic flexible brake hose. After securing the Brake Caliper Bracket remove the brake pads and then remove the Brake Pad retainers and finally the brake caliper guide pins. First detach the Brake Caliper Bracket from the knuckle by removing its brake caliper pin boots from the brake caliper mounting bracket followed by removing its mounting bolts. Check the Brake Caliper Bracket for damage or cracks then replace it. The installation requires the new Brake Caliper Bracket to join the knuckle while treating reused caliper bracket bolts with gm p/n 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488) threadlocker over two-thirds of the bolt length before installation. Install the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts according to a torque setting of 130 nm (96 lb ft) when the threadlocker has cured for 10 minutes. Mount the caliper guide pin boots into their entirely before you install the guide pins while verifying complete installation. The procedure begins by installing Brake Pad retainers followed by brake pads onto the Brake Caliper Bracket before attaching the brake caliper to its front caliper bracket.

Tighten them to 130 N.m (96 lb ft).

Clean them with denatured alcohol.

Remove the brake caliper bracket bolts and the rear brake caliper bracket itself.

Install the brake pad retainers and brake pads to the brake caliper bracket, and then reinstall the brake caliper.

Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488) to two-thirds of the threaded length of the lower caliper bracket bolts, allowing it to cure for about ten minutes.

Tighten the brake caliper bracket bolts to 120 N.m (88 lb ft).

Tighten to 32 Nm (24 lb ft).

Allow the threadlocker to cure for approximately 10 minutes.

Attach the brake caliper to the front brake caliper bracket.

Take out the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts and remove the brake caliper bracket from the knuckle, inspecting it for cracks or damage and replacing it if necessary.

Attach the brake caliper bracket to the knuckle.

Install the brake pad retainers and brake pads to the brake caliper bracket.
