Throttle Cable

The service process for Throttle Cable/linkage starts with the removal of accelerator control cable from accelerator controls bracket and throttle body lever. Proceed by disconnecting the accelerator control cable through the retaining point on the dash panel (bulkhead) then compress the accelerator control cable cover tangs to fully push it through the panel structure. The accelerator control cable requires removal from the left closeout insulator panel and then the removal of the accelerator control cable from the pedal before continuing with installation. Review all flexible parts before adding them to areas which are within 50-mm (2 in) proximity to moving parts and address controlling mechanisms. Screw in the accelerator control cable at the throttle body lever and also at the accelerator controls cable bracket . Route the accelerator control cable above the Brake Master Cylinder before leading it through the dash where it should be fixed with a retainer on the dash (bulkhead). When checking throttle motion the operator should control the accelerator pedal to ensure free movement between its maximum closed and widest opened positions. The pedal must not exhibit cable bind and the carpet should not limit pedal operation. Complete the installation of the accelerator control cable at the accelerator controls pedal then replace the left closeout insulator panel.

The first step in Throttle Cable replacement involves disconnecting the cable from the throttle controls bracket followed by disconnecting it from the throttle body lever and at the retainer on the bulkhead. Disconnect the Throttle Cable from both locations at the throttle controls pedal then remove the left closeout insulator panel. Use a tweezer to operate the Throttle Cable cover tangs while moving the cable through the bulkhead to detach it. To install the Throttle Cable connect it to the throttle body lever by guiding it through the built-in groove until it achieves proper seat. After connecting the Throttle Cable to throttle controls bracket proceed by running the Throttle Cable above the Brake Master Cylinder until both sides of the bulkhead then secure it at the retainer. After connecting the Throttle Cable to the throttle controls pedal verify the pedal function through movement checks and confirm it operates without binding between the closed and wide-open positions. The installer must replace the left closeout insulator panel.

Disconnect the accelerator control cable from the accelerator controls bracket and from the throttle body lever.
