    Q:
How to safely disconnect and connect the negative battery cable on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to disconnect and reconnect the battery negative cable after ensuring the sir system does not get involved with your service. Check sir component views to determine proper locations for cable manipulation in order to avoid sir components and wiring. Verify that no sir component or wiring exists nearby by checking sir component views and disable the sir system when needed. Any electrical work must start with a free off or lock key position and full disconnection of electrical loads. Danger of tool engagement with electrical terminals requires you to disconnect the Battery Cable. First turn off all lamps and disconnect accessories while verifying the ignition switch maintains an off state. Next remove the rear seat cushion followed by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable from the battery. Before connecting the negative Battery Cable to the battery you should clean oxidation using a wire brush on both the terminal and cable contact faces and then secure the battery ground terminal bolt to 17 n.m (13 lb ft. Torque spec). Put back the rear seat cushion in its original position. Users should note that the radio keeps pre-selected stations and clock settings in electronic memory without needing additional programming.
