Throttle Cable

The process to change the throttle cable starts with removing the injector sight shield and the left instrument panel sound insulator. The throttle cable needs disconnection from the accelerator pedal through bulkhead when you squeeze the cable cover tangs to push the cable forward. First disconnect the cable from the retaining clip and the throttle body lever along with the throttle cable bracket and extract the cable from the vehicle maintaining the proper route for installation. Before placing the new throttle cable remember to position the verified routing while sliding the cable through the bulkhead then install the snap retainer into the bulkhead. Someone should pass the throttle cable through the slot found in the accelerator pedal lever and then set the snap retainer in place. Test complete throttle movement by operating the accelerating pedal without encountering any problems from ill-fitting carpet under the pedal. The throttle cable requires installation by connecting to the throttle body lever followed by installation to the throttle cable bracket and securing the cable into the retaining clip. The procedure ends with the reinstallation of the left instrument panel sound insulator and the injector sight shield followed by a confirmation of throttle operation between closed and wide open throttle positions which must be free of binding. Flexible components should not run near moving parts within a 2-inch distance to prevent interference and damage.

The injector sight shield and left instrument panel sound insulator need to be removed before initiating work on the throttle cable. Gently pull the throttle cable through the bulkhead by squeezing the cable cover tangs and pushing the cable through the wall. Proceed by detaching the cable from both the retaining clip and throttle body lever before unfastening it from the throttle cable bracket and removing it from the vehicle while inspecting its necessary routing. Flexible components must remain at least 50 mm (2 in) distance from moving parts because this space protects against damages during installation. Operation of the throttle must remain unhindered when moving from closed position to wide open throttle (WOT). Apply the throttle cable starting from the verified pathway and push it through the bulkhead while inserting the snap retainer onto the bulkhead. Attach the throttle cable into the slot of the accelerator pedal lever before seating the snap retainer. The complete throttle motion range should be checked through accelerator pedal operation to ensure no carpet interference at the pedal position. After connecting these two components you should install the throttle cable into its retention clip. The procedure ends with reinstalling the left instrument panel sound insulator together with the injector sight shield.

Remove the fuel injector sight shield and the left instrument panel sound insulator.

Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator and the fuel injector sight shield.
