Throttle Cable

The Throttle Cable/linkage service begins by taking off the air cleaner outlet duct followed by disconnecting the Throttle Body cable from both the accelerator control cable bracket and cable routing bracket. The first removal process includes disconnecting the accelerator cable from its bracket clip while removing the left closeout/insulator panel. The first step involves removing the accelerator cable panel insulator retainer from the accelerator cable while you disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal. Push the bulkhead through while compressing the tangs located on the accelerator cable. When installing the accelerator cable it must be inserted from the bulkhead before mounting the accelerator cable panel insulator retainer onto the cable. The accelerator pedal receives the accelerator cable together with the bracket clip as the staff installs the cable onto the Throttle Body groove ensuring complete seating within the pulley area. Staff should then secure the cable to the cable control bracket and the routing bracket before reattaching the air cleaner duct. A free and unbound movement of the accelerator pedal from closed to wide open throttle requires priority for proper installation. The accelerator pedal operation can be checked by turning on the ignition while keeping the engine off then observing the throttle position (TP) sensor parameter through a scan tool before depressing the accelerator pedal to the floor and verifying the throttle position moves from 0 percent to 100 percent and back to 0 percent. Reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel as the last step.

First clear the air cleaner outlet duct then disconnect the cable from the Throttle Body before extracting it from the accelerator control cable bracket as well as the cable routing bracket. Disconnect the accelerator cable from its bracket clip then take off the left closeout and insulator panel. Begin by disconnecting the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal followed by taking off the accelerator cable panel insulator retainer which is mounted on the accelerator cable. Before removing the cable users must compress the accelerator cable tangs before pushing it through the bulkhead. To install first guide the accelerator cable through the bulkhead while securing the accelerator cable panel insulator retainer onto the accelerator cable . Begin installation by mounting the accelerator cable to the Throttle Body with full insertion into the pulley groove yet keeping it away from the hook tab. Next, connect the accelerator pedal to its cable along with the bracket clip before installing the accelerator cable onto the Throttle Body until it fully seats within the pulley groove. Finally, secure the cable to the accelerator cable control bracket while attaching it to the cable routing bracket followed by reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct. At this time check the accelerator pedal operation by turning on the ignition while keeping the engine off then using a scan tool to view the throttle position (TP) sensor parameter while depressing the accelerator pedal to the floor and releasing it to confirm full throttle position movement from 0 percent to 100 percent and back to 0 percent while ensuring the pedal has unrestricted movement. Reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel as the final step.
