Positive Cable

To replace the battery negative cable (LAF), start with recording prest radio station presets. Remove the battery negative lead, then follow by removing the battery current sensor from the body harness. Removing the battery negative cable ground nut will come off first from the frame rail, followed by the battery negative cable engine ground nut and washer from the engine block stud. Take out the retainers and write down how exactly the battery negative cable was routed inside where the engine compartment is, and remove the battery negative cable . To install first inspect the battery negative cable engine ground nut and washer to the engine block stud then fasting to 30 nm (22 lb ft). Now, bolt the battery negative cable frame ground nut to the frame rail with a manual clamping, up to 25 nm (18 lb ft). To connect the body harness connector, to the battery current sensor, and then to the battery negative cable. Lastly, reset the radio channel presets.

The first step when replacing the battery positive cable (LAF) involves writing down all radio station presets and then disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Detach battery positive terminal clamps starting with the post clamp nut at the positive terminal post and the post clamp nut at the fuse block. Start the process by removing retainers that hold the battery positive cable and afterward separate the generator nut from the generator b+ stud and starter solenoid nut . The installation of the new battery positive (Starter) cable and battery positive (Generator) cable requires removal of vehicle cables first and detachment of the retainers that secure these cables to the engine before marking the cable route in the engine compartment. The b+ generator stud gets a battery positive cable nut that gets tightened to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Afterwards attach the battery positive cable nut and terminals (Starter/Generator) to the starter solenoid and tighten to 10 nm (88 lb in). The retaining mechanism goes back into position on the engine before torquing the fuse block terminal nut to 16 nm (12 lb ft) at the same time the battery clamp nut receives a torque of 10 nm (88 lb in). As a final step reinstall the Engine Control Module (ECM) and battery cover followed by transferring radio channel settings to default memory.
