Release Cable

Start by lifting the hood before removing the hood cable from the latch while making note of the hood cable path through the engine compartment for when you install it. You should connect a 2 m (7 ft) wire stretch to the latch end of the cable. Start by taking the left front carpet retainer out of the vehicle interior. Do this by using 2 small flat-bladed tools to disengage the retainer clip from the hood latch handle bracket before pushing the handle to the rear. In case the handle doesn't slide easily, insert pliers onto the bracket's rear edge and the hood lever base tab and squeeze the pliers while possibly using a flat-bladed tool in the slot. Slide the hood cable up from the dashboard front using a flat-bladed tool to drop the grommet loose. Wire the feeder wire to the cable end before you use it to pull the cable through the cowl grommet into the engine space. Feed the hood primary latch release cable through the instrument panel's hole before removing the feeder wire from the hood cable. After connecting the hood cable handle assembly to its bracket, install the front carpet retainer next. To finish your work hook up the hood cable to the latch before checking the hood latch cable's function while making sure to put the hood in its correct position.

Pull the hood cable through the front of the dashboard, using a flat-bladed tool to loosen the grommet.

Use 2 small flat-bladed tools to disengage the retainer clip, sliding the handle rearward.

Inspect the hood latch cable for proper operation and finally, close the hood.
