Rear Cable

A manufacturer should start by releasing the park brake before raising the vehicle. The first step requires the front brake cable to disconnect from its connector. Removal of tire and wheel will precede this step. A replacement of the equalizer becomes necessary if it gets damaged. Removal of the left rear brake cable from its position on the equalizer should happen next. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) helps users detach the left park brake cable from the retaining bracket before extracting it from the retainer. The technician should remove the left rear brake cable both from the retainer as well as its retaining bolt. The park brake cable needs to be moved forward to break the connection at the park brake actuator lever before taking it off the caliper . We must insert the park brake cable into the bracket on the brake caliper then push it forward to join it with the park brake actuator lever . Attach the retaining bolt at 6 nm (53 lb in), then add the retaining clip onto the installation. Among the tasks is to install the left rear brake cable into the retainer and retaining bracket before joining the left rear brake cable to the equalizer and front brake cable to the connector. At the end of this process reinstall the tire and wheel and lower the vehicle to conclusion.

Replacement of the intermediate parking brake cable starts with lifting and supporting the vehicle in position. Cable the intermediate parking brake by pulling it downward where the connector meets. Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable first at the rear equalizer and the right rear park brake cable sequence. The Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J 37043) will help disconnect the intermediate park brake cable housing from the rear park brake cable housing connector before you can properly remove the intermediate park brake cable. When installing the new intermediate park brake cable you must first guide it through the park brake cable connector before connecting it to the equalizer and lastly to the right rear park brake cable. Lower the vehicle and position the intermediate park brake cable into the park brake cable connector.

Reinstall the tire and wheel and lower the vehicle.

Slide the park brake cable forward to detach it and remove it from the caliper.

First, release the park brake and raise the vehicle.

It must be replaced.

Ensure the locking tabs are properly seated.

Pull down on the intermediate brake cable.

Connect the left park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever and install it into the left brake caliper park brake cable bracket, ensuring the locking tabs are seated.

First, raise the vehicle.

Install the brake cable into the equalizer.
