    Q:
How to replace the positive battery cable on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the positive Battery Cable requires opening the electrical center cover then pushing the tab which releases the battery before opening the battery isolator. Before beginning disconnect the negative Battery Cable then eliminate the power distribution leads from the positive Battery Cable. To release the clamp start by loosening the clamp bolt while twisting it. When the clamp remains difficult to release, you can use a universal puller for assistance. The maintenance process starts with taking out the positive Battery Cable that connects to the front engine wiring harness. Also remove the front engine wiring harness cover. Support the vehicle overhead and remove first the starter motor lead nut from the positive Battery Cable then its wire from the starter connector. Finish by removing the starter solenoid terminal lead nut from the starter before removing its wire. Start by removing the positive Battery Cable nut from the generator and following it up with the cable separation from the generator before stripping off electrical tape from the wiring harness and taking out the positive Battery Cable from the harness. Begin the mount process by first connecting the positive Battery Cable to the wiring harness and then affix it with electrical tape. Attach the positive Battery Cable to the generator while torquing the positive cable nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Attach the starter solenoid terminal lead before tightening its nut to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Reinstall the positive cable lead onto the starter so its lead nut reaches 13 n.m torque. Complete the wiring before lowering your vehicle and installing the front engine wiring harness cover while adding the positive cable to its front harness. Start by connecting the positive Battery Cable along with tightening its bolt to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Proceed to mount the power distribution leads onto the battery positive cable clamp. The negative Battery Cable gets reconnected followed by closing the battery isolator before installing the electrical center next to the battery while closing its cover.
