    Q:
How should you replace the battery cables to ensure proper installation on Chevrolet Metro? Posted by Customer
    A:
On changing the battery cables, ensure you get the same type, size, and length that were original, because some positive cables are going to have extra feed cables, while some negative could have excess ground leads; route the installation of the replacement cable in a similar manner to the original. First, cut off the negative Battery Cable, next ground bolt the negative Battery Cable from the body and then the ground bolt and cable from the transaxle. Then, remove the cable from the harness hold down on the battery carrier and take it off the vehicle. For installation, connect the negative Battery Cable into the vehicle and mount it to the transaxle and use the ground bolt which has to be fixed and tightened to 23 n.m (17 lb ft) for a manual transaxle or 50 n.m (37 lb ft) for an automatic transaxle. Attach the cable to the body, and place the ground bolt and tighten to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Route the cable and attach it to the harness hold down on the battery carrier before connecting it to the negative part of the battery and tightening it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft).
