Motor vehicles with the Inflatable restraint system need their Side impact sensor mount to be removed before service (if equipped). Take the front door check link bolts out from the inner door holes before separating the door link from the door assembly. To install the front door check link mount to the door frame before securing it to the inner door bolts while tightening the front door check link bolt to 5 N.m (45 lb in). You should join the front door check link to the pillar nut and bolt before you tighten them to 5 N.m (45 lb in). The Inflatable restraint side impact sensor mounting plate should be reinstalled when possible and then the front door water deflector and the front door trim panel. Finish enabling the SIR system when the vehicle contains the SIR side impact system.

Users should enable their SIR system only when their vehicle has the SIR side impact system.
