    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing the air bag clock spring, the sir system needs to be disabled. Liberate the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and torch the Steering Wheel nut etching but paying a good amount of attention to the alignment mark on the Steering Shaft and Steering Wheel. Remove the Steering Wheel, steering column trim covers, and wire harness straps off the Steering Wheel column wire harness. Now, take out the instrument panel carrier and detach the sir harness from the rear of the fuse panel. Take off the retaining ring and the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft, discarding the old air bag clock spring if replacing it. To install, the wheels should be facing front, and the block tooth and centering mark on the race and upper shaft assembly should be lined up with the 12 o'clock position. The air bag clock spring will be pre-centered; do not remove the centering tab till installation is complete. If centering is necessary, center the air bag clock spring accordingly. With the Steering Shaft assembly, align the air bag clock spring assembly with the horn tower on the turn-signal-cancel cam assembly and slide the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft assembly. Thereafter, tightly fix the retaining ring into the groove of the Steering Shaft assembly and then take out and dispose of the centering tab from the air bag clock spring. Plug in the sir harness to the back of the fuse panel, install the instrument panel carrier and the steering column trim covers. Pass the wiring inside the Steering Wheel, synchronize the Steering Wheel with the mark on the Steering Shaft, and install the Steering Wheel onto the shaft. Install the nut on the Steering Wheel, torque to 41 n.m (30 lb ft), put in the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and turn on the sir system.

    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the Steering Wheel on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module air bag clock spring, first there is a need to disable the sir system and remove the Steering Wheel assembly, as well as tilt lever and the instrument panel carrier. Unplug the sir wiring harness from the back of the fuse panel and pull off the multi-function lever. Next, remove retaining clip of the air bag clock spring assembly and clip the plastic zip tie to separate the sir coil wiring harness from the air bag clock spring assembly. For installation; when installing an air bag clock spring assembly previously removed, start by centering it to the steering column an alignment with the horn tower to the cancelling cam assembly inner ring and then the projections on the outer ring. Assemble the pre-centered air bag clock spring assembly to the steering column, remove and throw away the centering tab, and install the air bag clock spring assembly retaining ring on the air bag clock spring assembly, ensuring it is seated in the groove on the shaft. Grasping the lower air bag clock spring assembly wire gently in your hand, remove any kinks on it, as they can impair the shaft lock mechanism. Route the sir coil wiring harness and install new plastic zip ties, and then air bag clock spring assembly retaining clip. Unplug the sir harness from the back of the fuse panel, and reinstall the instrument panel carrier, tilt lever, and Steering Wheel assembly before turning on the sir system.
