The console replacement process requires blocking the wheels while you remove rubber ash tray inserts and rubber mat from the console and the floor shift control knob. Builder-specific instructions for oldsmobile vehicles call for removing both the Center Console shift lever bezel and storage compartment before you detach the retaining screws. Activate the parking brake into its fully engaged position before releasing the two forward trim extension ears that connect to the lower ip section specific to oldsmobile models. To reach the electrical connectors you need to pull the console to the back and lift the rear before disconnecting them. Next adjust the parking brake to its midpoint level before removing the vehicle's Center Console. During installation connect the electrical connectors while the parking brake remains in full engagement position. Place the console rear end at a low position then push the unit forward until both retaining ears securely lock into the lower ip of the oldsmobile frame. Secure the Center Console retaining bolts at 2.5 n.m (22 lb in) before adding the console storage compartment and Center Console shift lever bezels and floor shift control knob. Reinstall the rubber ash tray inserts and rubber mat to the console then remove the blocking from the vehicle.
