    Staff should start by deactivating the sir system before they can move the shift lever seal upward from the shift lever position. You can replace the shift lever by disconnecting both the shift lever connector at the column base and removing steering column trim covers while enabling the sir system. First separate the shift lever screw then remove the shift lever assembly and the shift lever as well as the seal from the linear shift assembly. To initiate repair of the shift lever you must move the shift lever seal to the narrow segment of the shift element. The installation process requires mounting the shift lever seal to the narrow portion of the shift lever before putting the shift lever assembly onto the linear shift assembly. Insert the shift lever screw into the shift lever assembly while torquing it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Put the shift lever seal into place along the shift lever assembly before putting it correctly into the steering column trim covers. Install the steering column trim covers while enabling the sir system only when installation requires them.

    Make sure to disable the sir system before you try to replace the shift lever. After that, pull the tilt lever out from the Steering Column. Make sure you push the tilt lever all the way back into the Steering Column and then turn the sir system back on.
