    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve replacement procedure by switching the ignition to OFF position because it protects against EBCM/EBTCM damage. The first step requires removal of the air cleaner assembly and then removal of the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector by lifting its locking tabs. Uncouple the master cylinder inlet brake pipe fittings while using caps to close them and fitting plugs to each inlet port of the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) to avoid fluid leakage and contamination. The next step requires disconnecting the front and rear brake pipe fittings from the BPMV outlet port and applying capping and plugging procedures to both fittings. Start by taking out the BPMV from the vehicle after removing its 2 bracket nuts then disconnect its 2 insulator nuts with washers. The BPMV should be carefully extracted from the bracket after removing its 2 insulators for inspection before necessary replacements including the lower insulator. To install the 2 BPMV insulators you should put them onto the BPMV while supporting their assembly with denatured alcohol. The lower BPMV insulator requires installation onto the bracket before carefully installing the BPMV to the bracket while using denatured alcohol as needed. The BPMV assembly needs the installation of its 2 washers before securing to the frame rail with 2 bracket nuts using a torque of 20 Nm (15 lb ft). Install the washers by tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb in). Attach both outlet ports on the BPMV to rear brake and front brake fittings then tighten them to 17 Nm (13 lb ft) and master cylinder inlet fittings to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). Reconnect the EBCM electrical connector. The brake fluid contained within new BPMV units enables base brake bleeding to occur unless the ignition key has undergone cycling. Complete the bleed of the hydraulic brake system and conduct the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. The diagnosis check should be followed by a brake pedal feel inspection; perform an Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure in case the pedal display signs of sponginess. After completing the task reinstall the air cleaner assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Traverse? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for the brake pressure modulator valve must begin with turning off the ignition key for ebcm/ebtcm protective purposes. Uninstall the air cleaner assembly followed by disconnecting the ebcm electrical connector through the unlocking tab procedures. Relieve the master cylinder inlet brake pipe fittings by measuring and securing the capped ends to the bpmv inlet ports for avoiding brake fluid leakage and contamination. The bpmv outlet port requires disconnecting both front and rear brake pipe fittings which need capping and plugging. Safely remove both bpmv bracket nuts then take out the bpmv from the vehicle before removing the two bpmv insulator nuts and washers. Pull the bpmv in an upward direction from its bracket while removing the 2 bpmv insulators for inspection before necessary replacements of both the lower bpmv insulator and any damaged components. Installation requires attaching the 2 bpmv insulators onto the bpmv while assembly process can benefit from the use of denatured alcohol. Position the lower bpmv insulator onto its bracket followed by placing the bpmv onto its bracket while using denatured alcohol as an assistance when needed. The installation involves putting on 2 bpmv insulator washers and nuts which should be tightened to 8 nm (71 lb in) before mounting the bpmv and bracket assembly to the frame rail with 2 bpmv bracket nuts set to 20 nm (15 lb ft). The bsp outlet port rear and front brake pipe connections need 17 nm (13 lb ft) tightness followed by the master cylinder brake pipe fittings attached with 25 nm (18 lb ft). Reconnect the ebcm electrical connector. A brand-new bpmv provides complete fluid contents to both circuits therefore a base bleed process will suffice when the ignition key remains untouched. Empty the brake system hydraulic fluid while executing the diagnostic system check - vehicle. During the diagnostic check inspect the brake pedal feel because the presence of sponginess indicates the primary circuit contains air that needs antilock brake system automated bleed procedure. The last step involves replacing the air cleaner assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the process to change the brake pressure modulator valve by setting the ignition switch to off. Start by removing the air cleaner assembly along with disconnecting the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector through its locking tabs. First disconnect inlet fittings of the brake pipe leading to the master cylinder while installing caps on the fittings and plugging the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) inlet ports to stop fluid loss and contamination. The technician will disconnect the front and rear brake pipe fittings of the bpmv outlet port before capping and plugging them. Drive the bpmv out of the vehicle after unfastening its 2 bracket nuts. Begin by removing the 2 bpmv insulator nuts along with washers before carefully lifting the bpmv upwards from the bracket and finally taking out the 2 bpmv insulators while inspecting both for damage and performing replacements when necessary. Check the lower bpmv insulator for damage before replacing it if needed. To install the 2 bpmv insulators place them onto the bpmv while using denatured alcohol as an assembly assistance. The installation of the lower bpmv insulator requires use of denatured alcohol to mount it to the bracket. The bpmv installation to its bracket requires denatured alcohol on the insulators as an assembly aid. Use denatured alcohol to mount the 2 bpmv insulator washers and 2 nuts and tighten them to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Attach the bpmv and bracket assembly onto the frame rail and fasten it with the 2 bpmv bracket nuts brought to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Seal the rear brake pipe fittings to the bpmv outlet port by tightening them to 17 n.m (13 lb ft) and proceed with tightening front brake pipe fittings to the same torque. The ebcm electrical connector installation should follow the master cylinder inlet brake pipe fitting installation which requires 20 n.m (15 lb ft) torque tightening. A factory-new bpmv contains pre-installed brake fluid in both its circuits which makes base brake bleeding sufficient when the ignition key remains unchanged. The technician must bleed the hydraulic brake system while simultaneously performing the diagnostic system check - vehicle. During diagnosis inspection check the brake pedal sensation to detect any paddling motion which indicates air has accumulated in the primary system thus requiring performing the abs automated bleeding procedure. The last step is to replace the air cleaner assembly.
