    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the ABS Control Module (ABSCM) requires setting the ignition switch to OFF to protect the ABSCM and EBTCM from harm. The removal of throttle body air snorkel must be done when RPO LSJ is active. Wipe down all surfaces around both the ABSCM and BPMV to complete the area of any present debris and dust. Remove the ABSCM through disconnecting its electrical connector along with its 4 ABSCM-to-BPMV retention bolts. The ABSCM must be detached from the BPMV while keeping away metal tools that could scratch mating surfaces. Denatured alcohol should clean the ABSCM mating area on the BPMV before the ABSCM to BPMV seal receives proper installation. Follow the electrical terminal alignment of the ABSCM before tightening the 4 bolts crosswise to 4.5 Nm (40 inch lbs.). The electrical connector should go back to the ABSCM and you should also install the throttle body air snorkel again if needed. A new ABSCM installation requires programming of the system. For the final step turn on your ignition switch while maintaining the engine off then proceed with running the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
