    Q:
How to replace the right exhaust manifold (LA3, LY9) on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement of the right Exhaust Manifold (LA3, LY9) requires starting with drive belt tensioner removal. Two cable harness clips attaching engine wiring harness to ecm bracket should be removed before setting them aside. Rivet the after boil coolant pump from the ecm bracket with its two bolts before setting them aside. The heated Oxygen Sensor pigtail needs disconnecting from the wiring harness connector. Detach all retaining nuts from both the top section and front section of the right Exhaust Manifold. Start by removing the Starter and heated Oxygen Sensor when necessary followed by removing all remaining right Exhaust Manifold retaining nuts. Take off the right Exhaust Manifold along with its gasket from the engine space without keeping the gasket for reuse. Thoroughly examine and clean the right Exhaust Manifold before assembling it to the engine. New Exhaust Manifold gaskets go over the cylinder head studs before installing the right Exhaust Manifold on its corresponding right cylinder head. The three lower nuts of the right Exhaust Manifold require torque to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). First install the heated Oxygen Sensor before reconnecting the Starter if it was taken off. Fasten all remaining right Exhaust Manifold nuts while applying 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) resistance for these attachments. Position the heated Oxygen Sensor pigtail to its wiring harness connector and fasten the 2 bolts which secure the after boil coolant pump to the ecm bracket before tightening them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After securing the drive belt tensioner one must reconnect the 2 cable harness clips which secure the engine wiring harness to the ecm bracket.
