    Q:
How to replace the left exhaust manifold on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to change the left Exhaust Manifold requires the removal of the engine assembly. Begin by removing the lower heat shield bolts of the Exhaust Manifold alongside the lower heat shield before proceeding to detach the upper heat shield bolts and upper heat shield. First untighten and remove the air pipe bolts while removing the air pipe from the Exhaust Manifold before disconnecting the coolant pipe and engine lift bracket bolt from the Cylinder Head. Gracefully lift the oil level indicator tube while pulling it upward to remove it. Next proceed to remove all Exhaust Manifold nuts after taking out the Exhaust Manifold from the engine. During installation users must clean both the surfaces where the Cylinder Head connects to the Exhaust Manifold when reusing the components. Articulate the Exhaust Manifold before screwing its nuts until they reach 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the oil level indicator tube together with the coolant pipe while the engine lift bracket bolt passes through all components before torquing it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Before bolting the air injection pipe to its position on the Exhaust Manifold, cover all bolts with high temperature anti-seize compound gm p/n 12371386 or equivalent then fasten the bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). After the Exhaust Manifold upper heat shield receives high temperature anti-seize compound on its bolts you should tighten them to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). Finish setting the lower heat shield then secure all lower heat shield bolts with high temperature anti-seize compound before torquing them to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). Finally, reinstall the engine assembly.
