Evaporator Core

Service and repair operations for the auxiliary evaporator core should start with a systematic refrigerant recovery procedure of the system. Rephrase the sentence by starting with the removal of the left body side rear trim panel and air outlet duct assembly and proceeding to disconnect electrical connectors. Support the vehicle with tools and remove the retaining nut to break free the auxiliary evaporator rear tube assembly from its core position. First secure the auxiliary evaporator module assembly by taking out the mounting bolts. Afterward remove the vehicle case from its mounting position. You must take out all the screws from the case to gain access to its evaporator core seal and the core for removal. Check the gaskets and seals for any signs of damage before performing required replacements. Before assembling the case parts place the evaporator core inside and then apply the evaporator core seal before reinstallation. Fasten the auxiliary evaporator module assembly on the vehicle while tightening bolts to 10 N.m (86 lb in). When the vehicle reaches the proper height support it while attaching the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly to the core using a retaining nut which should be tightened to 10 N.m (86 lb in). After the electrical connection reinstallation, replace the air outlet duct assembly together with the left body side rear trim panel. After the system evacuation and recharge process the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) will test all component fittings for leaks.

The first task before servicing the auxiliary evaporator core involves recovering refrigerant from the system. The left body side rear trim panel and air outlet duct assembly must come off before disconnecting all electrical connectors. After vehicle support and while keeping the vehicle elevated you must remove the retaining nut to detach the auxiliary evaporator rear tube assembly from the core. The service of the auxiliary evaporator core requires you to first lower the vehicle then remove the bolts that fix the case to its structure before extracting the auxiliary evaporator module assembly. First remove the screws to separate the case into halves until you can reach the core seal for removal together with the evaporator core. Thoroughly examine gaskets along with seals for signs of damage then get new ones if needed. To install the evaporator core first position it inside the case before adding the evaporator core seal which enables the assembly of case halves. Fasten the auxiliary evaporator module assembly to the vehicle with bolts while tightening them to 10 N.m (86 lb in). Hoist and stabilise the vehicle and thread and secure the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly to the core by fastening the retaining nut to 10 N.m (86 lb in). After connecting all electrical components you should fit back both the left body side rear trim panel and air outlet duct assembly then lower the vehicle. Evacuate the system while performing a recharge process and verify no leaks occur during the procedure.

Reinstall the bypass valve bracket and the relay bracket, reconnect the electrical connectors, and finally reinstall the accumulator, coolant recovery reservoir, and air cleaner assembly.

Install the coolant recovery reservoir, refill the engine coolant, evacuate and recharge the system, and finally, reinstall the air cleaner.

Use the retaining nut to detach the auxiliary evaporator rear tube assembly from the core, then lower the vehicle.

Take out the screws from the case and separate the case halves to access the evaporator core seal.

Install the outer case to the evaporator module and tighten the screws to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
