    Q:
How to replace a muffler on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin your Muffler replacement by raising and supporting the vehicle before you support both the Exhaust Pipe and the Muffler. You should use a suitable cutting instrument to cut the Exhaust Pipe directly beside the Muffler welding point. First remove the neck fastening the rear Exhaust Hanger bracket to the rear Exhaust Hanger. Pull out the Muffler so that you can remove it from the vehicle. Beginning with a suitable lubricating the tail pipe hanger rod's surface allows hanger removal. Next step is to disengage the rear Exhaust Hanger from the tail pipe hanger rod by pulling it outward. Align the Muffler and Exhaust Pipe afterwards before setting the Muffler clamp in position without applying force yet. A soapy solution applied on the tail pipe hanger rod and the inner diameter of the rear Exhaust Hanger will help installation and after you press the rear Exhaust Hanger over the tail pipe hanger rod you should position it to the rear Exhaust Hanger bracket. Screw and tighten the rear Exhaust Hanger nut against the bracket until torque reaches 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Use a soapy solution on the tail pipe opening before you align the Muffler to the vehicle and ensure that the opening is horizontal. Finish by tightening the Muffler clamp nuts to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
