    Q:
How to replace the exhaust pipe on the LE5 with MH8 (2.4L Non Hybrid) on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to swap le5 exhaust pipes with mh8 (2.4L Non Hybrid) requires proper support of the vehicle at a comfortable height. For the Exhaust Pipe replacement start by removing both the Exhaust Pipe to converter nuts and Exhaust Pipe to Muffler assembly nuts . Push the Muffler assembly to a rear position so the Exhaust Pipe separates from its position and throw out both gaskets. After placing new gaskets correctly between the Exhaust Pipe and Muffler assembly move the Muffler assembly backward to align the exhaust between the converter and Muffler assembly. Begin with exhausting the Exhaust Pipe to Muffler assembly nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) before proceeding with Exhaust Pipe to converter nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the Exhaust Pipe on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle elevation and subsequent support constitutes the starting point to change an Exhaust Manifold pipe. The heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector must be disconnected first after removing the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer. Use the j 39194 Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) to detach the ho2s subsequent to removing the Exhaust Manifold pipe to Muffler nuts and Exhaust Manifold/catalytic converter to Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts. The first Muffler hanger insulator requires removal before using gentle force on the Exhaust Manifold pipe studs to pull the Muffler apart from its position before getting rid of the Exhaust Manifold pipe. Installation begins with mounting the Exhaust Manifold pipe to the Exhaust Manifold/catalytic converter followed by using slight force to mount Exhaust Manifold pipe studs to the Muffler then reinstalling the first Muffler hanger insulator. Follow this procedure for installation: 1) secure the Exhaust Manifold/catalytic converter to its Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts at 35 n.m torque 2) apply torque of 30 n.m when securing the Exhaust Manifold pipe to Muffler nuts. Install the previous ho2s but first apply anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or an equivalent product to its threads. Place the j 39194 (J 39194) tool to install the ho2s while torquing it to 42 n.m (30 lb ft). Ultimately connect the ho2s electrical connector then install the cpa retainer while lowering the vehicle below the floor.

    A:
Tighten the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to exhaust manifold pipe nuts to 30 Nm (20 lb ft) and the exhaust manifold pipe to muffler nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
