Resonator & Pipe

Start by elevating the automobile and keeping it in position to access the Exhaust Resonator. First, detach the Muffler to resonator clamp nuts (1, 2) and the right exhaust Muffler pipe flange bolts . The right exhaust Muffler pipe must be detached from its support rods by removing hanger insulator retainers from both rods before rotating the Muffler away from the resonator. After removing the hanger insulator retainers from the resonator support rods you should take off the retainers and remove the hanger insulators on the resonator. The left Muffler resonator should be rotated before detaching it. Start by placing the resonator onto the left Muffler and afterward put the hanger insulators onto the resonator. Secure the resonator hanger insulator retainers on the support rods and use them to mount the right exhaust Muffler to the resonator. The installation of exhaust Muffler pipe insulator hangers requires attachment to support rods before attaching the right exhaust Muffler followed by insulator hanger retainers to support rods. The installation requires flange bolt tightening for the exhaust Muffler pipe to 40 nm torque (30 ft. Lbs. Values). Screw in the Muffler to resonator clamp nuts (1, 2) before tightening them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). You must inspect exhaust system clearances as well as lowering the vehicle to search for exhaust system leaks.

Service of the Exhaust Resonator begins by properly supporting the vehicle during elevation. The service requires bolt removal from the exhaust Muffler flange along with the removal of retainers which hold exhaust system hanger insulators. Secondly remove the hanger insulators which secure both the resonator and the exhaust pipe hanger insulators attached to the mufflers. The service procedure begins with unfastening the Exhaust Resonator clamps before moving the Exhaust Resonator apart from both exhaust Muffler pipes. Installation starts with placing the Exhaust Resonator onto the exhaust Muffler pipes followed by attaching exhaust pipe hanger insulators at both mufflers and resonator. Fastener notice in service precautions must be followed during installation of the hanger insulator retainers to the support rods which serve the resonator and mufflers. The repair process includes tightening the exhaust Muffler pipe flange bolts to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) then clamping the resonator and securing its nuts with 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Exhaust system operation requires the inspection of all clearance areas followed by engine startup to search for leaks and completion of vehicle lowering.

Take off the heat shield nuts and then remove the heat shield.
