Oil Filter

Vehicle elevation and stable support is the first step prior to replacing engine oil and oil filter. Under the engine position a proper drain container followed by removing both the oil pan drain plug bolt and the oil filter. Implement the new oil filter while following the instructions in the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions before tightening the oil pan drain plug bolt to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Following vehicle lowering you should observe the oil capacity reaches 3.7 liters as a three-and-nine-tenths quart total for full oil filter replacement along with oil. The oil capacity amounts to 3.5 liters as a three-and-seven-tenths quart total when replacing the oil without the filter. Add the required amount of oil to the engine until it reaches the specified level while starting the engine to verify for any fluid leakage.

The first step for engine oil and oil filter replacement involves vehicle elevation followed by pan placement beneath the engine. First remove the bolt of the oil pan drain plug and the oil filter. After installing the oil filter it is important to read and follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Screw and torque tighten the engine oil pan drain plug bolt to a setting of 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Place the oil at the correct level into the engine while the vehicle is lower; the total oil amount required is 5.2 liters for combined oil filter and oil changes but drops to 5.0 liters with only an oil change. Check for any leaking after beginning the engine operation.

Remove the oil filter.

Install the oil pan drain plug bolt and tighten it to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).

Install the new oil filter, ensuring to follow the fastener notice in service precautions.
