    Q:
How to Ensure Proper Installation of the Drive Shaft on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
The propeller shaft replacement process begins with shifting the transmission into neutral position while supporting the vehicle. You need to index the propeller shaft alignment to its position on the rear drive module flange and afterward remove the underbody guard loop securing bolts and then the guard loop. Maintain support under the propeller shaft at the rear drive module before removing the bolts which join the propeller shaft yoke flange with the rear drive module flange. After positioning the propeller shaft at the power take-off unit (PTU) flange, support it in place before removing the ptu flange bolts. Proceed with supporting the propeller shaft at the support bearing then remove the bolts that attach the support bearing to the vehicle underbody. Use proper support to move the propeller shaft backwards and separate the constant velocity joint from the ptu flange before taking out the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Installation requires supporting the propeller shaft from front to center to rear as you insert it into the vehicle until you install but leave the support bearing mounting bolts loose. Install the forward section of the propeller shaft onto the ptu flange through pushing it rearward before aligning the index marks between propeller shaft constant velocity joint and ptu flange. The front propeller shaft flange bolts require cleaning and gm p/n 89021297 (Canadian P/N 10953488) threadlocker before mounting the bolts with 25 nm (19 ft. Lbs.) torque. (Set the index marks between propeller shaft yoke flange and rear drive module flange then place the propeller shaft while cleaning yoke bolts before applying threadlocker for bolt installation to these flanges with 50 Nm torque. After securing the support bearing bolts at 25 Nm (19 ft. Lbs.) remove the propeller shaft's support stands and install the guard loop to the vehicle bottom before bolting it in place at 25 nm (19 ft. Lbs.).

    Q:
How to replace the Drive Shaft on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the propeller shaft replacement process by installing a support under the rear drive module then keeping the transmission at neutral position. Position vehicle supports under the propeller shaft while marking the positioning between shaft and rear drive module flange. The propeller shaft yoke flange needs its bolts removed from the rear drive module flange before indexing the propeller shaft in relation to the power take-off unit (PTU) flange. First position the propeller shaft for support at the ptu before fixing all bolts holding the ptu flange. The support bearing requires proper support after which you must remove bolts between the support bearing and vehicle underbody. The propeller shaft becomes ready to remove once the mechanic supports it while pulling it toward the rear to free the constant velocity joint from the ptu flange. When reinstalling the propeller shaft into the vehicle always maintain sustained support at its front section as well as its center and rear sections. After cleaning the vehicle-mounting bolts of the center bearing technicians must apply thread locker (Canadian P/N 10953488) to these bolts before their installation. Supporting the propeller shaft during this procedure remains essential. Install the propeller shaft forward section onto the ptu flange by pulling it backward until the index marks between the constant velocity joint and flange align. Apply thread locker canadian p/n 10953488 to the propeller shaft flange bolts and clean them before mounting bolts to the front of the shaft using 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque. Place the index marks of the propeller shaft yoke flange and rear drive module flange in alignment and apply propeller shaft yoke and rear drive module flange bolts before tightening them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Lower the vehicle after removing support stands from the propeller shaft then tighten support bearing mounting bolts to 25 n.m (19 lb-ft).
